Alumni Weekend 2019: Celebrate in Chicago!
Preparations for Reunion 2019 are well under way! Join us back on campus April 26—27 as we celebrate the classes of 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014!

Registration for Alumni Weekend will officially open on Wednesday, January 2. Be sure to take advantage of our early-bird registration discount! We have a fun-filled weekend planned with a wide selection of talks, forums, Chicago sightseeing opportunities, class dinners, an all-alumni celebration, and more! If you’d like a sneak peek of the weekend’s events, please visit our Alumni Weekend website

If you’re interested in becoming more involved with your reunion or class committee, please let me know. Reunion weekend would not be possible without our incredible alumni volunteers.

Congratulations NUPOC Grads!
Congratulations to our newest group of Feinberg alumni! Our 2018 Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) graduates received their master’s degrees in Prosthetics and Orthotics on Monday, December 10.

Once again, congratulations on this incredible achievement, and welcome to the Medical Alumni Association!

Congrats Are in Order!

Samir K Patel, MD ’14 GMEF, competed on Jeopardy! earlier this month. Dr. Patel is an anesthesiologist and on faculty at Feinberg. Visit the Northwestern Now website to learn more about Dr. Patel and fun anecdotes from his time on the game show. Congratulations, Dr. Patel!
Brandi Jackson, ’15 MD (pictured left), and her twin sister, Brittany Jackson, MD, were recently featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and Windy City Live to promote their question-and-answer website, www.medlikeme.com, which seeks to "support and inspire those traditionally underrepresented" in the healthcare professions. Through this online resource, Dr. Jackson and her sister hope to change the face of medicine and encourage women of color to pursue a career in the medical field. Congratulations, Dr. Jackson!
David Skorton ’70, ’74 MD, secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, has been named the president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Dr. Skorton is a 2009 recipient of the Northwestern Distinguished Alumnus Award and also delivered the keynote address at Feinberg’s 159th commencement ceremony this past May. Simon Myint, ’53 MD, at age 90, was ranked number one in national doubles player and doubles team, and number three in the singles national rank for the United States Tennis Association sanctions for his age group (90 and over) for 2018. Dr. Myint is a tour-de-force, competing in four different states (California, Ohio, Massachusetts, and North Carolina) on four different court surfaces (hard court, indoor hard court, grass, and clay, respectively) between May and October. Dr. Myint plans to compete again in 2019. Congratulations, Dr. Myint!
Karuna Dewan ’04, ’09 MD, has authored the book Dysphagia Evaluation and Management in Otolaryngology. Dr. Dewan is assistant professor for the Med Center Line, Otolaryngology, and Head & Neck Surgery divisions at Stanford University Medical Center. More information on Dr. Dewan’s book can be found here. Congratulations, Dr. Dewan!
Van Krishnamoorthy ’99, ’03 MD (pictured right, with his wife and son), is the physician co-founder of health tech startup trineOMICS, which was formed to end surprise heart attacks. Their consumer brand, Tap Clarity, develops and commercializes innovative DNA and RNA tests for heart disease so that self-insured employers, consumers, and wellness clinics can learn about individual risk for heart disease in order to improve outcomes while reducing costs. Their scientific collaborators are at LA BioMed and Georgia Tech. They recently accepted their first investor and went live with a wellness company that will offer the DNA test to its 200,000 users, spread among 1,000 self-insured US businesses. Congratulations, Dr. Krishnamoorthy!

Margaret Danilovich, '07 DPT, PhD, Feinberg faculty member, received a grant from the Third Coast Center for AIDS research. The goal of this study is to explore the feasibility of high intensity walking among older persons with HIV and the influence of training on affect. Congratulations Dr. Danilovich!
Jonathan Tsay ’15, ’18 DPT, is the recipient of the Foundation for Physical Therapy Kendall Scholarship. Dr. Tsay is currently a PhD student at UC Berkeley. Congratulations, Dr. Tsay!

Dear Alumni, 

Happy Holidays! We hope that you all are having a wonderful holiday season. We are busy planning for our activities in 2019. Alumni Weekend registration opens on January 2, so make sure that you register early in order to receive early-bird pricing. We have a host of activities including CME forums, our mentoring lunch, and Celebrate in Chicago (an all alumni celebration) on Friday evening, as well as the Nathan Smith Davis Reception, Scholarship Luncheon, and class dinners on Saturday. We also will have many tours of campus and the surrounding neighborhoods. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
