This month, the Medical Alumni Association (MAA) was proud to host several regional alumni gatherings across the country. Alumni in Boston, Burlington, and St. Louis joined us to gather together, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones. Thank you to all of the alumni and friends who came out!

Howell '79, '81 MD, professor and chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UC Davis Health, will receive the American Society of Cytopathology's most prestigious honor, the Papanicolaou Award, in November at the annual scientific meeting in Phoenix. Congratulations, Dr. Howell!
| | Quentin Youmans, '15 MD, a resident in internal medicine, received the 2017 Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award, given annually to medical students, residents, fellows, and early-career physicians who have exhibited outstanding leadership in community service, education, public health, or organized medicine. | | Guilherme Dabus, MD, '05 GME, has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in Miami, Florida. The Top Doctor Awards “specialize in recognizing and commemorating the achievements of today’s most influential and respected doctors in medicine.” Dr. Dabus is an interventional neuroradiologist and neuroendovascular surgeon. Congratulations, Dr. Dabus!
| | Erinn Tuck Gardner, MD, '06 GME, of Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, was named a Top Doctor in Atlanta. Dr. Gardner is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and is a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society of Georgia. Congratulations, Dr. Gardner!

Happy summer! Our Alumni Engagement team has been on the road meeting many regional alumni. In July, we hosted 28 alumni in Boston, an alumni dinner in Burlington, and an alumni happy hour in St. Louis! Our fall schedule looks to be equally busy with tailgate parties at Ryan Field, as well as regionally at both Duke and Maryland. See the “Upcoming Events” section of this newsletter for more details. We hope to see you at one of our events, and if you have an event idea or would like to host a gathering in your area, please reach out to me.
