Thank you to all of our medical alumni who joined us in Palo Alto, California, to watch the Northwestern Wildcats take on the Stanford Cardinal on August 31. Attendees joined fellow Northwestern alumni and fans in the N Zone for a pre-game tailgate at Koret Plaza on the Stanford University campus. Sadly, the game didn’t result in a win for the Wildcats, but we’ll get ‘em next time! View our photo album from the tailgate and game. Thank you to all of our M’Cats for joining us! |
Your MAA Board in the Windy City |
|
A big thank you to our incredible Medical Alumni Association (MAA) Board members! Last week, our board members traveled from all over the country to Chicago to participate in our semi-annual meeting, attend a reception and dinner which recognized our former MAA and current PT Board members, facilitate three mentoring events for our Northwestern students, and even catch a Wildcat football game. Your MAA Board of Directors meets semi-annually on campus in the fall and spring. The Board subcommittees are committed to continuing to cultivate the future of the medical school through Engagement, Philanthropy, Mentoring, and Strategic Initiatives (Global Health, Primary Care, MDs in Business, and Women in Medicine). Interested in learning more about the MAA or Regional Boards? Contact us at medalum@northwestern.edu. |
Entrepreneurs in Medicine |
|
The MDs in Business subcommittee of the MAA Board hosted “Entrepreneurs in Medicine” on September 18. Co-sponsored by the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, this monthly event, aimed at faculty, scientists, and trainees interested in entrepreneurship, was held at the Simpson-Querrey Auditorium in the Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center.
Hosted by MAA Board member, Michael Fang ’99, ’04 MD (pictured left), this month’s talk, "The Good, Bad and Ugly...Life of an MD in the Pharmaceutical Industry," was led by Kenneth P. Wolski, ’68 MD (pictured top right). For over 33 years, Dr. Wolski served as a division officer and a senior level executive for various corporations, including vice president of Strategy and Policy for Merck, vice president of Clinical Operations Worldwide at SmithKline Beckman, executive vice president of Research and Development at Pfizer, and clinical research liaison for Roche.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and congratulations to Dr. Wolski on leading such a successful talk. Thank you, Drs. Wolski and Fang! |
