Reminder: New Alumni Weekend Dates in 2023

Alumni Weekend 2023: October 13–14

Hello alumni! My name is Katie Bradshaw, and I am the newest member of the Feinberg Alumni Relations team. In my role as assistant director of Reunion and Leadership Giving, I have the distinguished honor of working with our MD classes who are celebrating reunion this year.

In 2023, we are excited to welcome back the classes of 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018.

Please join us in the fall for Alumni Weekend 2023, October 13–14!

We moved Alumni Weekend 2023 to autumn this year after listening to your feedback and determining that the fall season may offer more free time and (hopefully) better Chicago weather! Though we’ll be celebrating in a different season, you can still expect the same robust menu of offerings, including our most popular activities: CME forums, tours of Chicago’s best attractions, mentoring opportunities, our annual Women in Medicine Tea, Half Century Club and reunion class dinners to reconnect with old friends, and more. While we will especially celebrate our reunion classes ending in 3 and 8 this year, Alumni Weekend is an ALL ALUMNI event. We invite you to join us and “Fall Back to Campus!”

If you have interest in being a reunion volunteer for your class, please reach out to me at kaitlin.bradshaw@northwestern.edu.

Stay tuned for more information coming this spring!

MAA Digital Series:

Hosted by Joseph Gugenheim, ’72 MD

“Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, Part Two”

We’re thrilled to bring you the newest installment of our MAA Digital Series, from our fantastic host and historian, alum Joseph Gugenheim, ’72 MD!

This month’s episode is a continuation from December’s, which examined the history of the Magnificent Mile. Now we look to its bright future.

Dr. Gugenheim discusses various proposals for the revamping of Michigan Avenue, including a new bridge over Lake Shore Drive to connect the busy street to the popular Oak Street Beach. A “bold and audacious” plan to state: “Chicago is back!”

Without further ado, Dr. Gugenheim presents Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, Part Two.”

MAGNIFICENT MILE, PART II”

STAY TUNED!

The Northwestern Alumni Association invites you to a matinee performance of Toni Stone, followed by a talkback with School of Communication Dean E. Patrick Johnson and playwright Lydia Diamond ’92.

Toni Stone is an encyclopedia of baseball stats. She’s got a great arm. And she doesn’t understand why she can’t play with the boys. Rejected by the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League because of her race, Toni sets out to become the first woman to play in baseball’s Negro Leagues. Challenges on and off the field—from hostile crowds to players who slide spikes-first—only steel her resolve to shatter racist and sexist barriers in the sport she’s loved since childhood.

An original play inspired by the book Curveball: The Remarkable Story of Toni Stone by Martha Ackmann, this New York Times Critic’s Pick will have you cheering along.
