75 Years of Partnership with the VA

Also in the Winter 2021 issue of Northwestern Medicine Magazine, we celebrate Feinberg’s partnership with the VA. This year marks the 75th anniversary of medical school affiliations with VA hospitals, and Northwestern was the first to foster this relationship. In honor of this milestone, Feinberg has launched a special website dedicated to the history, timeline, and research of this partnership.

Learn more about outside-the-box thinker Paul B. Magnuson, MD, former chair of Northwestern’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, who developed this innovative concept of academic VA partnerships in 1946.

A special thank you to those alumni who reached out to us in response to our November newsletter to share memories of their time training at VA Lakeside!

We also invite you to visit the Feinberg News Center to learn even more about the trajectory of this historic partnership.

A Salute to Our Half Century Club Alumni

Learn about how our Half Century Club alumni are making a big impact on the medical school and its mission. Members of this distinguished alumni group—those who earned their degrees or completed graduate medical education at Northwestern 50 or more years ago—are featured in the March 2021 issue of The Philanthropist.

“This dedicated community of alumni serves as inspiration to all of us who have followed in their footsteps,” said Alan M. Krensky, MD, executive for Development at Northwestern Medicine and vice dean for Development and Alumni Relations at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. “We owe them a debt of gratitude, not only for their contributions to the field but also for their steadfast support of our medical student scholarships, research and training programs, and, ultimately, our mission to improve the future of human health.”

Thank you to all of our Half Century Club members!

Our Future Alumni: Match Day 2021

Congratulations to all our M4s who celebrated Match Day on Friday, March 19!

Students viewed their matches online and celebrated virtually. Because of pandemic travel restrictions and stay-at-home orders, many students matched for their residency at programs they never saw in-person or in cities they didn’t have a chance to visit. Undeterred amid these most unusual circumstances, our incredible students celebrated their success as they discovered where their medical career journey would take them next.

We're excited to watch your careers unfold! 💜
