I HAVE A QUESTION
FOR DR. GUGENHEIM

Congrats to the NUPOC MPO Class of 2021!

The Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) Master in Prosthetics-Orthotics Class of 2021 celebrated its commemoration on Friday, November 20. The commemoration recognized the students' hard work and dedication during their onsite, supervised clinical practicum. The event was possible due to the creativity and hard work of faculty members Anisah Mirza, CPO, and Mindy Thorpe, CPO. Despite going fully online for five months during COVID, the NUPOC faculty and students implemented strict and measured safety guidelines to allow the students to safely return to campus in August. Students completed their clinical practicum and all the necessary onsite requirements for graduation in 2021. In groups of eight, the students celebrated with professional pictures taken in their regalia, photo booth pictures, snacks, a slideshow from their time at NUPOC, and parting remarks by Dr. J. Chad Duncan, director.

The students will finish up their final quarter online and graduate in April 2021.

Congratulations to the NUPOC MPO Class of 2021!

A fun Feinberg connection to share with you...

Our wonderful colleague, Nora Dunne, associate director on our Donor Relations team, recently discovered that Bonnie L. Typlin ’70, ’74 MD, was her first pediatrician! Nora recently welcomed a sweet little baby of her own into our Northwestern family—meet six-month-old Rosie!

Dr. Typlin is an MAA Board member and former MAA Board president, as well as a recipient of the 2020 Service to Northwestern Award.

Thank you to Nora (and her mom!) for sharing this neat connection with us.

Women physicians face unique challenges and obstacles throughout their professional careers. These challenges may affect leadership development and opportunities for women in medicine, resulting in a gender gap in the governance of academic medical centers. The third annual Northwestern Women in Medicine Conference will help to identify the obstacles that contribute to gender inequity and start the discourse to bridging it by hosting a virtual lecture series monthly.
