New MAA Digital Series:
Hosted by Joseph Gugenheim, ’72 MD

"The History of Chicago Pizza"

For the past several years, alumnus Joseph Gugenheim, ’72 MD, has led highly sought-after city walking tours during Alumni Weekend. In lieu of his in-person tours this year, he recorded a short Zoom presentation for the April 2020 edition of the MAA newsletter, titled "Who's Who in the Northwestern Neighborhood."

On the heels of that fascinating and popular presentation, we’re thrilled to share that Dr. Gugenheim will be hosting a new digital series for the Medical Alumni Association newsletter.

You won't want to miss this month’s installment—a fantastic presentation on the interesting and delicious story of the famed Chicago pizza—brought to you by our favorite historian.

Celebrating Our Reunion Alumni...

Medical School History: MD Class of 1960

In the April 2020 edition of the MAA newsletter, we featured five alumni from the MD Class of 1960, whose fathers had all graduated from Northwestern’s medical school in the 1920s and 30s. Henry H. Roenigk, Jr., ’60 MD, reached out to us to share that his father also graduated from Northwestern’s medical school in 1939, bringing the grand total to six!

Dr. Roenigk’s son also graduated from the medical school, and he shared this wonderful photo of the three generations together at the 1981 MD graduation of Randall K. Roenigk ’77, ’81 MD.

Thank you, Dr. Roenigk!

The Class of 1995 Celebrates 25 Years

In celebration of their 25th reunion this year, the MD Class of 1995 gathered together for a Zoom call last month, “#TogetherAtHome,” to celebrate their time spent together in medical school, as well as their personal and professional accomplishments since graduation. They had a wonderful turnout, with 38 classmates joining the call.

Thank you to Aseem D. Desai ’91, ’95 MD, for organizing the get-together and sharing this wonderful screenshot with us!
