Issue No. 18 — August 2018

A Summer Evening in DC
On August 9, alumni and friends of the medical school joined for us for a very special Medical Alumni Association gathering, “Combat Casualty Care Advances: A Small Silver Lining in War,” featuring David J. Smith, ’81 MD. Dr. Smith is the deputy assistant secretary of defense for Health Readiness Policy and Oversight and Department of Defense reform leader for Healthcare. Dr. Smith shared insights from his prolific career in military medicine and with the Department of Defense. The evening was graciously hosted by Richard Moscicki ’74, ’76 MD, and Marianne Moscicki '74, in their beautiful home at the Watergate Complex.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful event!

Making Music with the NMO
Dear Fellow Alumni Friends,

I found the "cure" for burnout, and learned how to slow down tau protein formation and create new neuronal connections!

Well, it is anecdotal, but I want to share how much fun I am having with the Northwestern Medical Orchestra (NMO). If you want to experience passion, purpose, and exposure to the next generation of talented and brilliant physicians, then join us in our shared love of music!

The NMO will rehearse weekly at the state-of-the-art Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, beginning Tuesday, September 11, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. To join the NMO, please fill out this interest form

Yours,
Gilla Davis ’72, ’75 MD, DLFAPA, PC
