More than 400 alumni and friends will come back to campus this April for a weekend of celebration. It's a fantastic time to reconnect with friends and classmates and see how the medical school has grown. Enjoy CME sessions, a Friday night all alumni party, Saturday class dinners, the Young Alumni Social, tea at the Drake for Women in Medicine, and so much more.

Congrats Are in Order!


MAA Board and Feinberg faculty member James A. Hill, '70 MD, '79 GME (above left), professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, received the Distinguished Alumni Award at the National Medical Fellowships Innovation in Healthcare Awards 70th Anniversary Celebration on December 6, 2016, at the Union League Club of Chicago.
James P. Chandler MD, '96 GME (above right), vice chair and Lavin/Fates Professor of Neurological Surgery also was honored and received the Innovation in Healthcare Award.
Sandra Sanguino, '89, '93 MD, '96 GME (left), current faculty member and Associate Dean for Student Affairs, has been selected as one of the 2017 recipients of the Exceptional Mentor Award by the Awards Committee of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA). This award celebrates those who have made an impact on the lives of students in medicine. An “Exceptional Mentor” goes above and beyond what is required and actively reaches out to those around her to help guide them in their career path. The award presentation will take place at AMWA’s 102nd Anniversary Meeting during the Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Embassy Suites SFO Waterfront in San Francisco.

Adina Kern-Goldberger, '15 MPH, MD (above right), a second-year resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology, received The Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, along with Philip DiSalvo, '15 MD (not pictured), a second-year resident in Emergency Medicine, who received the award from the New York University School of Medicine. Recipients are selected by third-year medical students as a part of their Student Clinician’s Ceremony, based on their demonstrated commitment to teaching and compassionate treatment of patients, families, students, and colleagues.

•  3/11—Mesa, AZ (1:05 p.m.) Sloan Park. The Medical Alumni Association is proud to host alumni and friends at a spring training game for the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs as they take on the Colorado Rockies. 
The Mesa, AZ event is sold out. To be put on a wait list for this event, email your name and number of desired tickets (limit 4) to medalumevents@northwestern.edu.
•  3/30—Houston, TX (6:008:00 p.m.) The Houstonian Hotel. “Conversations with the Dean”: Eric G. Neilson, MD, vice president for Medical Affairs and Lewis Landsberg Dean, will provide updates on the medical school and his vision for the future.

  4/28-29—Chicago, IL Alumni Weekend. We have more new and exciting programming planned than ever before! Join us for CME courses, city sightseeing, an all alumni celebration, class dinners, a Young Alumni Social, and more.

Dear Alumni,

We hope you enjoyed the inaugural issue of the Medical Alumni Association Newsletter last month. We are in the midst of planning a very exciting Alumni Weekend for April 28-29. You do not have to be in your reunion year to enjoy many of the activities taking place. We are presenting several interesting CME credit classes, holding our first Women in Medicine Tea, and a Young Alumni Social event to keep our younger alumni connected.
